The actor addressed the speculation head-on, explaining that while he has “tremendous respect” for Selleck and their years together on Blue Bloods, the rumors about Selleck joining his new project simply aren’t true.

Wahlberg clarified that the casting process for Blue Boston is still underway and that no roles have been secretly filled. He emphasized that the creative team is focused on developing a fresh identity for the series, not recreating or extending the Blue Bloods universe. “This show needs to stand on its own legs,” he added.

He also noted that he understands why fans might hope for reunions, but he encouraged viewers to keep expectations open. “Tom is iconic,” Wahlberg said, “but what we’re building here is something completely new.”
