Steve McQueen wasn’t simply one of Hollywood’s biggest stars — his passion for cars and motorcycles was almost as famous as his movies.

His son, Chad McQueen, inherited both worlds.

Born in 1960 to Steve McQueen and actress Neile Adams, Chad grew up surrounded by racing. He eventually became a professional race-car driver while also stepping in front of the camera, appearing most famously as Dutch in The Karate Kid and The Karate Kid Part II.

But racing remained a major part of his life.

In 2006, Chad suffered a devastating crash while practicing for a race at Daytona International Speedway. He survived, but his injuries were severe and effectively ended his competitive driving career.

Then the McQueen story continued into another generation.

Chad’s son, Steven R. McQueen, became an actor himself, gaining widespread recognition as Jeremy Gilbert on The Vampire Diaries.

Chad McQueen died in 2024 at age 63.

Decades after Steve McQueen’s death, his family’s connection to Hollywood, speed and the McQueen name was still being carried forward.
