For nearly six decades, Dolly Parton belonged to the world.

But behind the rhinestones, sold-out concerts and unforgettable songs was a love story she fiercely protected from the spotlight.

Now, details surrounding Dolly’s final resting place have revealed one last chapter in that story.

Dolly Parton will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Carl Dean.

The country legend will be interred at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Nashville, where Carl was laid to rest following his death in March 2025.

Dolly and Carl were married for 58 years.

Their story began almost by accident in 1964, when an 18-year-old Dolly had just arrived in Nashville to chase her dreams. She met Carl outside the Wishy Washy Laundromat.

Two years later, they married.

What followed was one of country music’s most unusual—and enduring—marriages.

As Dolly became one of the most recognizable women in America, Carl chose almost exactly the opposite life. He rarely attended celebrity events and remained intensely private while Dolly traveled the world.

Yet Dolly repeatedly made clear that behind closed doors, Carl remained the great love of her life.

After Carl died, Dolly described their relationship as a “great old love story” and spoke openly about how difficult it was to lose someone who had been beside her for so many decades.

Her nephew Bryan Seaver revealed that after spending a lifetime wearing elaborate rhinestones, Dolly wanted something much simpler when it was finally time to rest: a beautiful bed of soft cotton. Reports also say she will be laid to rest wearing a cotton dress and her signature high heels.

Her funeral will reflect the private side of Dolly that the public rarely saw. At her request, the service will be small and limited to immediate family.
