For decades, Pierce Brosnan has been one of Hollywood’s most recognizable leading men.

From Remington Steele to his unforgettable years as James Bond, audiences became accustomed to seeing Brosnan impeccably dressed, perfectly groomed and effortlessly charming.

But his latest movie transformation is something completely different.

In the boxing drama Giant, Brosnan disappears into the role of legendary Irish boxing trainer Brendan Ingle — and some fans have had to look twice to realize it’s actually him.

Gone is the polished 007 appearance.

Instead, the 73-year-old actor appears with thinning white hair swept into a comb-over, large glasses and a noticeably older, weathered appearance.

The transformation is so dramatic that online viewers have jokingly compared his appearance to everyone from Bernie Sanders to Larry David.

But the unusual look isn’t simply being used for shock value.

Giant tells the true story of British-Yemeni boxing champion Prince Naseem “Naz” Hamed, played by Amir El-Masry, and the remarkable relationship he developed with trainer Brendan Ingle.

Ingle became one of Britain’s most respected boxing trainers, helping guide Hamed from a young fighter in Sheffield to international superstardom and a world championship.

Brosnan’s transformation was therefore designed to make him resemble the real man rather than the Hollywood star audiences already know.

Even Ingle’s brother Tony praised the casting, saying Brosnan reminded him of Brendan and was capable of capturing his personality.

It’s quite a transformation for the man millions still picture stepping out in a tuxedo as James Bond.

More than 30 years after Brosnan first picked up the keys to the Aston Martin in GoldenEye, he’s proving that he isn’t afraid to leave the glamorous image behind.

And judging by the reactions to his new appearance, he certainly succeeded in making people look twice.
