Princess Diana’s Final Hours in Paris

Spread the love

On August 31, 1997, Princess Diana left the Ritz Hotel in Paris with her boyfriend, Dodi Al-Fayed. They departed in a Mercedes, attempting to avoid photographers who had gathered outside the hotel. Paparazzi had already positioned themselves near the rear exit after learning of the couple’s plans, driven by widespread rumors surrounding Diana and her relationship.

In an effort to escape the pursuing photographers, the driver increased the speed of the car. While traveling through the Pont de l’Alma tunnel, the vehicle crashed into the 13th pillar. The impact was severe.

Dodi Al-Fayed and the driver, Henri Paul, died at the scene. Princess Diana was still alive after the crash and was taken to the hospital, where doctors worked for more than two hours to save her life. Despite their efforts, she later died from her injuries.

In the years that followed, many theories emerged about the cause of the crash. However, official investigations concluded that the accident was the result of excessive speed and impaired driving.
