For millions of viewers, Albert Ingalls will always be the mischievous young boy who found a home with Charles and Caroline Ingalls on Little House on the Prairie.

The character was played by Matthew Labyorteaux, who joined the beloved series as Albert in 1978 and quickly became an important part of the Ingalls family story.

Albert’s journey wasn’t always easy. His storylines dealt with adoption, growing up, difficult choices and some surprisingly serious subjects for family television. His close relationship with Michael Landon’s Charles Ingalls made many of those episodes especially memorable.

But when Little House ended, Labyorteaux’s career didn’t disappear.

He continued acting and eventually became particularly successful as a voice actor, working on animated programs, films and video games. Rather than constantly appearing in front of the camera, much of his later career happened behind a microphone.

And that’s why some Little House fans may not immediately recognize him today.

Now 59, Labyorteaux is a long way from the curly-haired youngster viewers remember running around Walnut Grove.

Yet for fans who grew up watching the Ingalls family every week, one thing hasn’t changed:
