For millions of movie fans, Tim Curry was the unforgettable performer behind some of Hollywood’s most eccentric and memorable characters.

But Susan Sarandon remembers something else.

Following Curry’s death at 80, his longtime Rocky Horror Picture Show co-star shared an emotional tribute revealing the side of Tim that audiences rarely got to see.

Sarandon remembered him as funny, original and impossible to forget. But she said the quality she loved most wasn’t his talent or larger-than-life screen presence.

It was his heart.

After suffering a major stroke in 2012, Curry lived with significant physical limitations and used a wheelchair. Yet Sarandon remembered how he continued meeting fans with kindness and generosity.

Even during difficult years of his own life, she said, Tim continued giving something back to the people who had supported him.

Sarandon thanked her former co-star for meaning so much to so many people before ending her message simply and personally:

“Love you, S.”

The two became permanently connected in movie history after starring together in 1975’s The Rocky Horror Picture Show, with Sarandon playing Janet Weiss opposite Curry’s unforgettable Dr. Frank-N-Furter.

Nearly five decades later, however, Sarandon’s farewell wasn’t really about the character that made Curry famous.

It was about the man behind it.

And perhaps that’s why her words are resonating so strongly with fans now.
