There was a time when Angie Dickinson seemed to know everyone in Hollywood. She starred opposite John Wayne in Rio Bravo, appeared alongside Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin in Ocean’s 11, and later became a television icon as Sgt. Pepper Anderson on Police Woman. For decades, she was considered one of Hollywood’s most glamorous stars.
Today, at 94 years old, Dickinson has largely left that world behind. Her last acting role was in 2009, and she has spent her later years living much more privately in Beverly Hills. In a revealing CBS interview, Dickinson made it clear that she wasn’t desperately waiting for Hollywood to call again—she was comfortable with the career she’d already had.
Her private life also included tremendous heartbreak. Dickinson’s only daughter, Nikki Bacharach, died in 2007 at age 40. Dickinson later spoke movingly about her daughter, calling the memories she had of her among her very best.
The woman who once shared screens and parties with some of Hollywood’s biggest legends now lives far removed from that whirlwind. But Dickinson has looked back without bitterness, describing herself as fortunate for what Hollywood gave her. After decades in the spotlight, she appears content to let the movies—and the memories—speak for themselves.
